10C completing a practical where they were testing the carbon dioxide content of different gasses including their own breath, the air in the science lab and car exhaust fumes. Students concluded that the highest source of carbon dioxide came from their own breath as humans breathe out pure carbon dioxide.
The air in the science lab was relatively clean as it is a well ventilated space. The car exhaust fumes contained many toxins of which carbon dioxide was present but not the major constituent. Students practised their safe lab skills when completing the exercise and handling chemical compounds.
